Courage Essay
Every human being on this planet is unique and different but we are all born with the gift of courage. However there are very few who take advantage of that gift. Courage is the ability to work oneââ¬â¢s way through a tough situation, be it mental or physical. We all have faced or witnessed tough challenges before. Th difference, however, is that some people tend to give up when the goings get rough, while others keep on. People commit acts of courage on a daily basis, many of them without even realizing it. Today I will talk to you about an event in particular. Imagine playing hockey with a bunch of boys and being the only girl itââ¬â¢s very difficult, even more then it sounds. I was the only girl on the team and most of the boys would refuse to pass the puck to me or even tell me when I did a good play. This didnââ¬â¢t bother me very much because I knew I would just have to work harder to prove them wrong, it was a challenge I was ready to take on. Half the season was done and everyone got to know me better and most of the team started to be friends with me, except one. His name was Aidan, he had blonde hair and blue eyes. He would always insult me before and after practice, in front of the rest of our team but they would never say anything to the coaches. Yes it was difficult to not let it get to me but I would always tell myself to just let it go. One day before our game he came up to me while I was alone and started insulting me and swearing at me. My only defence was to stand up for myself and tell him what I thought, I pinned hi m against the wall and told him how bullying people isnââ¬â¢t gonna make himself feel better and that he should stop immediately. After that day, he never bugged me again and that act of courage changed my life for the better. Courage is a necessity to the evolution of our people. Without courage, African-Americans would still be stuck Iââ¬â¢m slavery. There would be no one there to fight for the rights of the people we now consider equals. Courage can be found Iââ¬â¢m various forms. Courage is the only thing that gets us through the hard times, and the tempting opportunities. Courage is vital to the evolution of the human population. It os also an essential quality to becoming a successful person.

Jane Eyre Essay
In the novel Jane Ere, Charlotte Bronze describes and expresses the life of the protagonist, Jane, through the character's own eyes. As Jane begins to explain her story to the reader, It Is shown fairly quickly that she leads, perhaps not a terrible, but an ill-fated life. Bronze uses this to her full advantage, swirling different styles into the tale through Cane's sense of self or outlook on the world, her discovery of the truths of her relationships, and the bizarre events that take place over the course of the story. These styles are romantic and gothic, and Bronze incorporates aspects from OTOH In her novel in a way that they smoothly advance the story. The style Bronze uses for Jeans personality Is romantic. Bronze gives Jane very romantic character traits. Jane may at first be considered a very common or ordinary person but she is in truth very original, ââ¬Å"[when Rochester expresses his surprise that she is thus]â⬠(). Even Mr.. Rochester, one of the few people she's b ecome close to, is surprised to discover how unique Cane's mind is. It Is her mind, in fact, that he comes to love so much.Another clear example of romanticism is how Jane freely expresses herself, ââ¬Å"It was Bessieâ⬠¦ UT I did not stirâ⬠¦ I was not disposed to care much for the nursemaid's transitory anger, and I was disposed to bask In her youthful lightness of heart. I just put my two arms around her and said, ââ¬ËCome, Bessie! Don't scold! ââ¬Ë the action wasâ⬠¦ Frank and fearlessâ⬠(36). Even as a young child Jane was rather bold, and this trait only grew more as she aged. She does not hesitate to express herself even with Mr.. Rochester, who was in a higher social class than herself.Being individual, thoughtful and expressing things freely, which Jane is and does, are all elements of a mantic writing style, clearly showing that Bronze uses this style In her novel. The style Bronze uses for many of the settings In Cane's life Is gothic. The events and settings that happen throughout Cane's life tend to have a supernatural or dark feel to them. Shortly after Jane had agreed to marry Mr.. Rochester for the first time there was a great storm, ââ¬Å"It [the chestnut-tree] writhed and groanedâ⬠¦ [It] had been struck by lightningâ⬠¦ And half of it split away/' (275-76).This is an example of gothic elements because what happens to the tree represents what Is going to happen In he near future, giving It a supernatural effect. The tree comes to represent Cane's and Mr.. Rochester relationship: how they part ways, then come back together after a time. The school that Jane goes to as a child and young woman is described as a very gloomy place; the girls at Elwood were forced to go outside for an hour in the cramped garden, where it was so cold that they developed chilblains. After which, there was no solace because the students didn't have enough food to revive, or fire to warm (59-60).Nearly all the children were hungry and cold; It was not until the bring that It began to get warmer and soul the students were starved. Besides that, an even darker event happened at Elwood ââ¬â many students, including her friend Helen, die of typhus. The presence of desolation, gloom, and mysterious events all point to Bronze having used gothic traits in her writing. Throughout the novel, Bronze combines both romantic and gothic writing styles. She does this very well, so that the reader doesn't feel as if the story Is disjointed or awkward. After Jane and Mr..Rochester's wedding Is stopped, Mr.. Rochester shows Bertha, who is a schizophrenic. Knowing now that she cannot marry Edward, and she does not want to become his mistress, Jane decides to leave Threefold for good (316-320). The romantic trait of this situation was that Jane decided to leave, even though she really did not want to, because she had to do what was best for her. The gothic aspect was Mr.. Rochester's wife; a mad-woman who was living in his attic and h ad tried to kill him multiple times. After about a year, Jane is once more drawn to Mr.. Rochester; Jane hears Mr..Rochester's voice call out to her right before she is about to agree to marrying SST. John and decides that night that she will leave SST. John and the others to pursue what she wants, and that is to find out what became of Edward (456-459). The gothic, clearly, is how Jane can hear Mr.. Rochester call out to her even though they are miles and miles apart. The romantic is that, once again, Jane decides on what she is going to do based on what best for her, as an individual. In both of these situations, the romantic and gothic aspects come together and add interest to Bronze's novel. In conclusion, Charlotte Bronze's novel, Jane Ere combines romantic and gothic rating styles fluently in order to tell Cane's story. The romantic elements were usually infused to Cane's own character; the way she thought, her personality, and the way she lived her life. It was the settings an d events that took place, however, that held the gothic elements; Elwood, the storm, Mr.. Rochester's wife Bertha, and how she came back to Mr.. Rochester himself for Just a few examples. The way Bronze accomplished this feat is what drew in many people to reading, then consequently liking, her works and these affects continues to this day. Lean thinking (Layout Planning) Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words - 1
Lean thinking (Layout Planning) - Assignment Example The most exemplary and logical way to accomplish this working criteria would be to designate any two working departments with large amount stock movement proximity so as to save on fuel costs, transportation costs and most importantly operational time. So as to categorize which particular centres frequently have a large amount of stock or inventory movement within the company centres, a work Travel Chart is created to indicate the weekly sum of the activities and travels among the different departmental centres. The table below shows the operation sequence of all the products manufactured by the company. It also shows the respective allocated company sub-sections used during the production of each of the products. Notably, this will aid in appropriate decision making during the layout designing processes. A travel chart is used outline the degree of essential departmentsââ¬â¢ relativity in the production process. This is carried out via examining the amount or volume of products between each and every different work centres to aid in concluding which department s ought to be developed and stationed close to one another. Here is representational table of the travel chart for these companyââ¬â¢s operational activities. Based on the above travel chart as well as the systematic layout planning technique (SLP) the degree of the importance between any two work centres to be allocated close to each other has been determined. In this case scenario the various company processes are represented using numerals. In this case, the number represents the first production process, that is, the guillotine process. Therefore, one can inference from the travel chart that the process number 12 - Pack and 13 - Dispatch work centres both display a high and strongly relative bond in terms of the movement of product between the two centres. Revising Techniques in Crime Scene Processing Essay
Revising Techniques in Crime Scene Processing - Essay Example This has provided an opportunity to update the techniques with modern techniques and procedures (Wise County, 2012). The main objective of this study is to provide a detailed explanation of the different techniques and analysis methods that can be adapted in todayââ¬â¢s investigation process. Discussion Topics That Need To Be Updated In the Guidebook The increasing crime rate globally has highlighted the importance of adapting updated measurements to detect criminals. With reference to section C in the guidebook i.e. ââ¬ËCrime Scene Investigation: A Guide for Law Enforcementââ¬â¢, it has been viewed that certain procedures stated in the guidelines are backdated as compared to the new investigation procedures or equipment invented. The different topics that need to be updated in the guidelines are stated hereunder: With reference to the notion of team composition as represented in Section C, it can be viewed that the guideline only focuses on documenting or recording all the vital factors that can help in further investigation, therefore, this aspect should be updated. In the contamination control context, the guideline related to limiting scene access should be changed. The policy of preparing preliminary sketches should be altered as well. The policy of focusing firstly on easily accessible areas should be changed. And lastly, the process of establishing chain of custody should be updated (Reno et al., 1999). The Vital Reason behind Updating the Topic and How This Would Affect the Forensic/Criminal Justice Community With reference to the above mentioned factor, the first facet that needs to be changed is the process of documentation. It has been viewed that earlier investigators mainly focused on collecting data from the spot of the incidence. However, it has been proven that the belongings of the victim act as a great evidence which can be studied to find the major reason behind the crime. Additionally, if electronic surveillance is done of the area of accident, it would provide more help for the investigators to come to the final result. Again, it has been viewed that according to contamination control guidelines of Section C, it suggests that the access to people directly involved in processing the scene should be limited. However, if the scenes are made open for the people associated with the investigating process, the procedure would have been more effective as different people are qualified with diverse techniques and skills which ultimately would result in making the method more effective. In addition, in the documentation part of Section C, it requires the preparation of initial sketches. However, if taking preliminary sketch is replaced with electronic recordings it would provide a more detailed study of the area. Additionally if electronic sensing devices are used to detect smell, temperature or weather, it would help in making the investigation process more effective by providing more precise data (Cameron, 2011). Mor eover, it has been viewed that the Section C states to focus firstly on the easily accessible area however, if the section prioritizes on areas that are difficult to access or mostly remain unnoticed it would be quite beneficial for the forensic team. This would help in collecting more prior data of the crime conducted and would also help in producing effective

Race and education Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2
Race and education - Essay Example For example if I donââ¬â¢t accept treatment from an Indian or Asian doctor based only on the fact that his/her skin colour is not of my liking then Iââ¬â¢m committing racial sin. But when this same thing starts happening at an institutional level, then itââ¬â¢s a big problem. Sadly enough, it is prevalent. In old movies of the time of the Second World War, Hitlerââ¬â¢s Germany, one can see (or read about them) there were shops and public eating places that had sign boards reading ââ¬ËNo Jews Allowedââ¬â¢, a classic example of institutional discrimination. The difference between racism on an individual basis and by an institution lies in the formation of policies. Usually the institutional racism is in a documented form. Countries can (and have) denied visas or asked for very high taxes from specific nationalities if they want to migrate. The segregation is not limited to visas only, when the difference between the rich and the poor is observed it is more likely to occur that whites (in many countries including England the US) usually have higher income level than coloured people. Racism has its dark deep roots in British social science (Billing, 1979). Over there across the ocean in King County US, 29.1% African Americans and 19.2% people of Latin origin are living below the poverty line compared to only 7.9% of people living under the poverty line from white households (Solid Ground, n.d.). An interesting study suggests the colonization of African and Asian people that began in the 15th century has more to do with the race of the people than people think. When Europeans met with Africans and Asian for the first time, they saw these different groups of people that had different cultures, they started to believe that Races in human species do exist and that Whites are superior to all of them (Clark, 2007). Institutional racism happens both overtly and covertly, there are many form that happen in the world without
